Jayne statue head and plaque

Postby F-N-S » Sat May 23, 2009 12:49 am

The head and the plaque were auctioned off at the Big Damn Flanvention 2005.
The winner of the auction is a MikeTMC. I tried to get in contact with him for more pictures, but he hasn't answered yet.

...then I doubt he'd want to cast it either!

But it looks so bad that even an amateur could probably sculpt it.

What a great prop to have! I wonder what he ended up paying for it?

Hey F-N-S,

If he won't post better pics maybe we could just get acuurate overall dimensions? I could do some photoshop measuring based on the hand size of the guy holding the plaque in the top pic.

Got an answer from MikeTMC. He sent me a couple more pictures of the auction and a pic from http://www.almosthuman.net/ of a complete Jayne statue. Almost Human is a FX company that worked on Firefly.

Thanks Mike!

Hi folks,

Took a couple of new photos of the statue yesterday and sent them to Titan to see if they could use them in their Firefly volume 3 "Still Flying" book.

Give me a week or two to see if they accept them before I post them publicly here.

They did a quick phone interview on Friday to ask me about the prop, so I told them the story about American Airlines freaking me out by almost losing the Jayne head after we got bumped to another plane after ours started leaking jet fuel. "Explode? I don't wanna explode!" <grin>

Also, I made a Twitter page for the statue in the hopes of spreading the word about the search for the missing statue body and my attempt to re-assemble the Jaynestown statue. It's a huge longshot- but it can't hurt:

Got the new statue photos uploaded to Titan on the 19th, and it looks like I'll make it into the Volume 3 Companion after all. Too bad we have to wait until April 2010 to see the book, though.

Rumors from the Creation con seem to indicate that some alumni Firefly writers might be contributing a collection of short stories...including Ben Edlund, so I'm excited about that.

The Twitter page for the Jayne statue has been getting some buzz, and even Adam gave me a shout-out the other day!
