I might have made me a coupla enemies thereabouts....

Episode 7 - Jaynestown

I might have made me a coupla enemies thereabouts....

Hey gang,

Aside from a few mumblings in the BDM grenade thread I haven't been too active lately when it comes to props from the Verse we all love so much. Well, I ain't been sittin' pretty! I've got a few things happening and this is the first project to reach some state of real progress. I've been at it for a couple months or so (ok, a little longer) but didn't want to show it until I had something real purty. It's been a tad experimental and it would've been anticlimactic if it failed. Well, the first results are now in and I am sooooo happy with the results that I couldn't stay quiet any longer.

So, I now give you... the Jaynestown pistol!

This is my first completed attempt at 3d printing (the grenade is another "first", but in a different manner) and it was modeled in the same way as my virtual prototype for Vera/Alice was. I would never have thought that it would turn out so well right out of the shop- there's barely any prep work to do before painting. I just need to go over the surface with very light sandpaper and fix a couple of very small details.

Compared to the photos in the Firefly archive, I am pleased to say this is almost dead on and I am very relieved to have matched the size to the correct grips (Pachmayr Compacs for rossi revolvers) almost perfectly. I was real worried that they wouldn't fit and that I'd have to redo a lot of stuff and order another print. So far this is probably the most screen accurate replica I have ever put together and I'm real happy to be able to add a new Verse firearm to the stable.

Next up is that I have to fix a couple small details (like a cocking lever) and then see if I can mold it (I might end up with a couple extra... ). More later, but for now, enjoy the pics!

Very impressive! I'm totally and completly jealous
