Cool! Let me know if you need any measurements of the front parts if that helps you to finish your sonic rifle.

Thanks, Frank.
At this point I'm scaling everything off the excellent photos you posted way back when.
I figure that is accurate enough for what I'm doing,
and probably as good as making a metric-to-American conversion would be.
Some measurements will end up being dictated by the materials I have to use, I'm sure.
If I get stuck on something, I'll surely be asking, tho'!

It doesn't look much different, but I did all the main clean up on the primary aluminum casting
and machined the other parts so it can be bolted together.

I'm now starting on all the non-Foosh-rifle parts that make this a Sonic instead of a Foosh.

So, if you could Frank, it would really help to have a picture looking straight down on the top of the Sonic rifle.
Also, I wonder how you would describe the color?
I always thought it was a green on the show, but it looks gray in the pictures.

Thanks,
Mike

I'm not good with colors ... it's a metallic gray. Not green at all.

AWESOME!!

That is EXACTLY the angle I needed!

I'll end up painting mine Panzer Gray to match all my Alliance Fed helmets and accessories.

Thanks so much,

Mike

Just an update on the project that has captured most of my free time:

I finished all the main parts for the body of the Sonic.

Image

Everything bolts together and it will be possible to paint and then assemble this just like a...
...well, just like a real mechanical thing.
(It can be disassembled as well, tho' once I finish it, I can't see why I would.)
The sonic is all metal except for the resin foregrip, fiberglass stock and rubber buttpad.
It has some serious weight to it; maybe too much.

The three dishes are up next.
They will be machined out of black plastic.

Thanks to Frank for his excellent pictures.
This project would be essentially impossible on screencaps alone.

Another minor update:

I don't really collect props for anything but Firefly/Serenity.
But, I have acquired a few things,
a Pulse Rifle from Aliens, a Don Post Star Wars Stormtrooper helmet I bought new in 1978,
Cuppy and a lobby card from the 1998 "Parent Trap"...and a Foosh pistol replica from "The 6th Day".
I was sitting at my computer desk just kind of drifting when I picked up my Foosh pistol,
sort of wondering how much work I had to finish THAT unfinished project.
I was turning it all around to check on the putty work, when I noticed THIS:

Image

Holy....Wow!
The "discs" on the side of the Alliance Sonic Rifle are Foosh pistol bases grafted on the side of the Sonics.
Looks like I'll be breaking out a can of silcone and some fiberglass resin,
after I finish cleaning up the incomplete putty work on the base of my Foosh pistol,
and casting up a pair of Sonic Rifle dress-up pieces.
