Episode 10 - War Stories

Niska's Torture Room

Postby Yellowjacket » Tue Aug 03, 2010 3:43 pm

I know that Niska's stuff isn't high on anyone's list of 'must-haves', but I thought I'd explore it anyway. The upright torture restraint area is made from four 'scoop stretchers', but I haven't identified which brand or model yet. Here is an example...

You can also see a scoop stretcher on board Serenity in a few scenes throughout the series.

That's also the stretcher Book lies on in 'Safe' in the scene where the Alliance guy checks his ident card.
I think it is also used in another episode but I can't remember in which. It's about time that I watch Firefly again ...

Yeah. I knew I saw a scoop stretcher elsewhere.

There's another bit where they remove it in the infirmary and chuck it in a corner.

Yeah, I think that's in Bushwhacked when they bring in the kid from the other ship.
May have been on the losin' side, still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Hey All,

It's a Ferno model 65 scoop stretcher. They go for around $700 new, sometimes less on ebay.

Pretty sure the Niska torture ones are "Hare Aluminum Spine Board" or "Hare Non-Folding Scoop Stretcher".

Hey Sidewinder,

I think you're right! It took me so long to find "scoop stretcher" I didn't know there were so many different kinds. :D You can see in this picture that the stretcher "necks" down near the floor like the Hare stretcher, not the Ferno. (Right below Zoe's elbow, just behind her tush.)

Hey F-N-S,

I would tell you, but then I'd have to... you know. ;)
