Shooting Location

Episode 10 - War Stories

Shooting Location

Postby Bronson BB » Tue Oct 11, 2011 1:13 am

The spot in the desert where Mal and Wash are grabbed by Niska's men is behind 42848 150th St East, Lancaster, CA. In the rock formations between Ave L and Ave L-4 behind the standing set buildings. This is 'Club Ed', me thinks. http://www.avlocations.com/index.html

Is the road traffic still visible in the background?

:)

The little booklet, "Filming Locations For Firefly & Serenity", places the "War Stories" ambush site at Palmdale, California.

I scanned the page, below:

Only thing I'd note is that the desert locations of Lancaster and Palmdale all seem to blur together.
I tried scanning the desert on Google Maps for quite a while to locate the "Heart of Gold" ranch,
which has a landing strip next to it,
and never did spot it.
The opening image of the orbital pan-in on the Heart of Gold brothel is CGI,
because it didn't show the large out buildings that are evident in several of the scenes from the episode.

Mike, I was looking for the 'Heart of Gold' Brothel when I ran into this location.
"Still Flyin'" talks about the shoot location for 'War Stories' being being behind 'standing set' buildings that match the description of those in front of this one.

I'm still looking for the Brothel, Serenity Valley and valley where the BDHs fought Patience.

I'd sure like a copy of your booklet, though. :)
