Really cool what can be done with the 3-D printing technology.
I saw this in its early years for making sized up models of electrical connectors
at a company where I applied for a job.

REALLY a nice addition to the Firefly prop world, although I won't be getting in on it for the foreseeable future.
Too many unfinished Firefly projects already in the queue,
too many real-world responsibilities,
and I'm in the process of spending a year-and-a-half's hobby budget
changing my backyard from dirt-grass-and-trees to dirt-grass-and-trees-only-different.
(I hate yard work, but it needed to be done.)

My main hope is to be able to afford a 12" to 15" printed VERA.

Very nice work and a big help for all who've got a raygun and a flashlight to marry together!

Hehe.. I actually thought it WAS done but I decided to go back and fix one tiny detail. Since a couple of the pieces are so small I will "sprue" them together. If you have a lot of very small parts they can, if you're really unlucky, be missed during the cleaning process as they basically dig them out of a huge pile of white powder support material . So, by stitching small parts together they will not be easily missed! (On the other hand, Shapeways customer service has always been great... sometimes they'll redo an entire print order just because one small part might be missing or something! It's just that you have to wait another couple of weeks...)

Mike: a 12"-15" Vera is certainly doable but I'll have to split it into two or more pieces. (I could actually print a 1:1 Vera, piece by piece if I wanted to... I have all the parts more or less ready except that I'd have to go back and make them all hollow... hmm... I wonder what that would cost! The 7" I did was actually pushing the rules a bit because they're not allowed to print gun-like objects in the Netherlands, where Shapeways are located. If you want something gun-like printed, you either have to model it in pieces so that it in no way resembles a gun OR make it very small... like 5" or something.

Good news! The prints have arrived and they look GREAT! All they need are a bit of sanding and priming with a good spray filler/primer before paint. I'm at work now, but as soon as I get home I will verify the fit against the flashlight and post some more pics, then I'll set up a link for anyone that wants a set. Until then... here's a preview pic.

Great work on the Lassetter parts, I'm really looking forward to seeing how these all come together.

Parting Vera out, on Shapeways, would be awesome. It would be perfect, if you offered all the "Custom"/"Add-on" parts for vera (i.e. suppressor, Magazine, Grip, Stock, etc.) separately. That way, It would not look at all like a gun, or even gun parts (other then the grip, and maybe the magazine, and each person could by just the parts they feel they need. If someone wanted to buy all the add-on, and can afford the real base gun great. If another person wants to just buy a AK airsoft off of ebay, and wants to use some or all the add-on's to dress it up they can. Or if a person can only afford some of the parts, and wanted to just dress up a Nerf, they could. But, personally, I only see it working if the parts were listed separately.

Actually, I don't know what it's like to list stuff on Shapeway's, but separately is usually best. I mean, as truly awesome as your Lassetter kit is, it way out of my price range, and I only need about half of those parts, if it was listed separately a person could by just what they need, and do the rest \themselves. But then that is just me, and i do think it is fantastic, that you are offering these great items to us at all. I have one of your little Vera's ,and it is one of my favorite pieces in my collection.
