Inara's Pistol

Episode 11 - Trash

I've done a little checking and there is a Marushin silver/nickel 6" barrel Luger available as a non-firing replica. It's fairly pricey... around $200. Maybe it's possible to buy just the barrel as spare parts?

Any 6 inch Luger will do, doesn't need to be silver coloured. I'd be philosophical about repainting both silver anyway.

There are some very good silver spraypaints about these days.

Does anyone have a 6" barrel Luger we can measure?

Pieces underway for a trade commission, modified to match the new info brought to light by
that guy who hunts down and acquires all the obscure little prop pieces that
have been scattered to the four winds since the show wrapped seven-odd years ago. :D
This is about 3 hours into a 5 hour project.

The shot below shows the disproportion of the more "correct" pieces with the shorter barrel Ruger.
I can't justify the cost of purchasing a whole airsoft pistol to keep only a section of barrel,
and I don't trust my ability to apply as nice a finish as the original Marushin to a modded piece.
I'll be modifying or replacing my original pieces to match the look of the new pictures
while maintaining the short barrel proportions.
Except that muzzle piece.
That ain't NEVER comin' off!

Wow, that guy sounds really interesting. I bet he's cool and good-looking too.

Nice work on those parts.

The very tip, the foremost part of the lower cylinder should be black.

Great job.

Hmm... Folks on the train are lookin' at me funny. Must be because my chin just hit the floor!

Looks like my ruger will arrive on monday- it cleared customs today. I'll probably keep the short barrel as well. The WE luger is great, but it would come to over 250 with shipping and customs.

Got my Ruger today. Man, for a piece of plastic this thing looks GREAT. I'm pretty critical of most metal-look processes but this looks almost perfectly like polished steel. It's even slightly cool to the touch and the metal magazine adds to the feel of it. It's the exact same one that Mike has and the finish actually looks better in real life.

Can't wait to get some aluminum (sorry UK guys, I grew up in New Jersey, ;) ) parts on there.

The quality of that finish is why I'm hesitant to try to extend the barrel length.
Also, I can see the finish line on those aluminum parts.

Don't forget, Joe, I need the most accurate diameter measurement you can give me on the OD of the barrel in front of the front sight.
If its millimeters, go at least two places (hundreths); if its inches at least three (thousandths).

The barrel dia in front of the foresight is 13.00mm and 2.8mm long.
