Shiny. I've wanted one or two of these for awhile, so I'll be watching for them.

You and me both. ;)

I have a friend that does prop electronics working on it and he's already got it partly planned out. I actually have a prototype that was made a couple years ago by someone else for me but it's not battery friendly, so the new one will be resolving that. I was able to get the recording without any of the music in the background for it as well. I never did get a video of it though.

The hope is to offer both the electronics kit and hollow casts of the modified radio body. A turn key kit, or simply an upgrade for those with the radio.

Sign me up for one. I am still looking for a recorder made from the radio or the radio itself. But a functioning replica is way too cool!!!

Thanks to R2Dan I got my very own recorder. The picture does not capture the color correctly but it is bronze.

In the hope of one day adding some kind of recording electronics I left the recorder in two pieces; only attached together with the original screws.

Anything ever happen with the electronics for these??

I have a radio on the way and really want to add the message.

Also on the color was it confirmed if it was bronze or copper??

I have prototype electronics in mine, but the person that was supposed to make more flaked out.

Does it work? Do you have his message coming out of it?

Yep it plays the message from the episode, I was able to get a version of it without the music in the background. Sadly the builder of the board didn't really heed my requirements for space and battery power so this particular prototype eats batteries like candy.
