Tracey's Helmet

Episode 12 - The Message

Tracey's Helmet

Postby Browncoat359 » Thu Sep 09, 2010 11:14 pm

Ni-hao to ya,I have a classic "steel pot" helmet that I wanna paint to look like Tracey's(and the other Independent's) in "The Message". I can't decide what color(s) to use to get the look right.
Suggestions? Please? Thanks.

I don't know the exact colors, but it's like a beige body with the stripe being like a dark muddy blackish brown.

I'm sure someone here probably has a closer description though.

Welcome to the boards. :)
May have been on the losin' side, still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Damn! Thanks guys. :D Bronson your link is exactly everything I needed to know to do this. On a personal level I'm still not convinced of the colors recommends but I'll go with it.
REALLY appreciate it guys, this is as fine a welcome to board as I've had.

I may explore the rest of the costume at a later time,I've gotta get this done before the 18th.

Thanks again.

Well, yeah.
The 76th wears their uniforms clean and new and Tracy's was dirty and worn so if you're going for a veteran look, you'll wanna go a bit darker, prob'ly.

Here are two pictures of Tracey's Helmet. Much dirtier than the 76th helmet.

hit it with steel wool while still wet to get a rough texture then finish with one color darker. Did one for Korean war display.

Man that stripe looks like it was laid on with a trowel.

It ain't easy finding the supplies for this. Gonna have to find an equivalent brand for rmy brown stripe. Can't find the recommended Krylon for that. Searched all over town today. No luck.
