The 2013 Can't Stop the Serenity season is wrapping up with the global auction on November 16th, and with the new season looming I would like to suggest Fireflyprops.net as a global sponsor for the prize packs.
Each year, CSTS accepts donations from sponsors to fill 60 prize packs that are then sent to all of the participating cities worldwide. The prize packs include toys, books, clothing etc, that can be auctioned off or raffled to raise money at screenings and shindigs for Equality Now and other local charities.
I suggest that we put together a 'postal pack' featuring dozens and dozens of print good items in one packet. These print items could be anything from bottle labels to currency. We have some very talented designers here that would all be listed in a write-up to be included in the packet and online. Many of you could contribute designs you've done in the past. Original, Verse-inspired projects would be strongly encouraged and each contributor would need to send finished, trimmed copies to me for assembly and inclusion. I suggest that we do contributions in increments of 100. The packs only call for 60, but the extras would allow each contributing member to get a packet and perhaps additional copies to be sold to non-contributing collectors or the Global auction.
So, say you have a credit bill you've created. You would print and trim 100 copies (or 200 copies if you wanted to bills in each packet). You would mail finished copies to me along with a short biography about yourself to be included in the contents sheet.
Items should be small enough to fit into a 6 x 9 envelope, either at size or folded. Items can include any of the following suggestions…
Currency
Ticket stubs
Racing forms
Railway tickets
Space Transit tickets
Food labels
Drink labels
Ship's papers
Licenses
Phone cards
I.D Cards
Stamps
Seals
Stickers
Signage
bookmarks
mini posters
brochures
Travel items
This is also your chance to create something all new. I will also be requesting postage stamps for the outside of the packet. If you are interested in doing this, please contact me and I will let you know the art requirements for those.
Once all the packets are labeled and assembled, I will send them to the global sponsor coordinator and they will post us officially online as a global sponsors under the heading 'Fireflyprops.net'. I'm going to work on a patch design specifically for this project, so watch for news on that in about a month.
The deadline for submissions is February 1st. This will allow me a good month to get the packs to global, barring any unforeseen problems. You may submit as many designs as you wish, but as the charities support human rights worldwide, please avoid content that promotes graphic violence, prostitution, pornography, etc.
We look forward to your contributions. Feel free to ask questions and make suggestions here.
