I guess if you want control over your work, you pretty much have to go into business yourself as an artist.
And avoid subscription services like the subscription service that replaced disc releases of Photoshop. If you unsubscribe from it, you can't open your original artwork if it's a photoshop file.
YOUR work, HELD HOSTAGE.
It's rather like saying to Bouguereau or Monet or Whistler: You slapped the paint on the canvas to make the original art, but you don't own the canvas. We're taking the canvas back and leaving the paint on the floor. Sucks to be you.
THAT is why I'm hanging on to my discs/software. Until it no longer runs on my machines. The day comes when it doesn't, I'll go to something like GIMP or Corel's Painter/Paint Shop Pro. They are still offered on disc and they are far less than you-know-who.
