Basically. but it's just a test at first, if it's successful then I might look at a more powerful talkie, only problem is there is no antennae.

I have some 15 mile walkie talkies that are small enough to fit, but for the 4 double a batteries. Are you going 9 volt single battery or smaller?

AA batteries are 1.5 V so if you have 4 the system only needs 6 V. The walkies I was looking at are powered by a 9 V, but I can rig up a battery harness with small coin batteries if necessary. Those are 3 V batteries and are tiny. I found that a 9V battery just doesn't fit inside my print, (just barely) so I'm looking at battery alternatives, but first I'll need to get the walkies to gut, and see if I need a bigger speaker or what.

i want to make this in a way so that once I close off the back panel, I don't have to open it back up nearly ever. Only would have to undo the screws to be able to change the battery.

Very clean and classy. It gives them a 'museum display' look, as if you're displaying a paired set of refined, old dueling pistols.
