Custom 'Zoe' Mare's Leg holster rig

Postby Badger » Thu May 18, 2017 9:46 am

I made this recently, a commission for a client.
She wanted something 'Zoe-esque', but that she could use for Steampunk cosplay, etc.

The Mare's Leg is a Denix stripped, aged and weathered. I also stained the wood because it looked awful :)

The rig is the same dimensions as Zoe's, as I still have the patterns I took from the original holster.

It's fully lined throughout, made from Oak tanned full grain leather, hand stitched.

I added the two 'give' points, the brass screw hinges, to make it more comfortable, and so she can sit down while wearing it. It eases the whole thing up, making it much more comfortable for extended wear.

She was very happy.

Very nice!
I can almost see it being made on steam-powered machinery.

That rig makes for a very pretty Barbeque gun.

It's beautiful work and the alterations are a great improvement and variation.

Thank you guys,

It was a fun project.

It's funny, I don't do a Sci-Fi/Frontier/Western type job for ages, then two come along at once :)
The day after I finished this I got a call from an Armourer I do a lot of work for. He wanted two gunslinger holster rigs for an upcoming show called 'Electric Dreams'. The brief was 'Bladerunner/Mad Max/Western'.

Also, the trailer is finally out for 'Kingsman: The Golden Circle'. I designed and made a series of holster rigs for that movie last year. Here's one.
