Hot on the heels of the custom 'Mare's Leg' rig, is this.
I was asked to come up with a 'Kaylee' kind of tool/utility belt, something she might have knocked up herself in the long hours of deep space downtime, maybe from what she could find laying around the engine room.
The client wanted somewhere to keep her phone and some cash at Cons.
I used the very edge of a hide for the base belt, the rough, buckled, untrimmed part. I think the leather is really interesting around the edges of the hide.
The leather is all brand new, but aged and artworked in the same manner I treat a movie prop when working ona film. Paint, stain, selective colour removal, hard and soft burnishing.
The 'Firefly' badge is made using the press tool from the wallets run. The black cylinder is the take-down tool set from a Saiga 12 shotgun. The other pouch is a prototype case I made a while ago for a Leatherman Wave.
