Zoe Mare's Leg rig on Propstore of London

Postby Badger » Sat Jun 10, 2017 9:42 pm

FYI

This item, purported to be 'Production Made' was just sold by Propstore of London. I sincerely hope not to someone here :)

https://propstore.com/product/firefly-t ... d-holster/

It was not made for the show and has nothing whatsoever to do with the Firefly TV show, or movie.

How do you warn the new "owner" ? Can they be sued for fraud?

I'm in touch with the new 'owner'. He'd put a 20% deposit down on the item before contacting me to check authenticity.
He's been in touch with Propstore today to ask for his deposit back.

I sincerely hope they give him his money back.

I was surprised to see this listing at the Prop Store.
The holster has a maker's mark (Crafted by Victor) that I've never heard of as associated with Firefly.
The coloring doesn't look like either series or BDM holster.

Far as the gun, although the stock is correct, the lever is wrong for the series, as they note.
I believe the gun may have been used for the movie because it has the extra sight mount, BUT,
the brass scope thingy and brass thumbscrew are both broken off.
So I think the gun is legit for the BDM (tho' incomplete)
but the holster (admittedly not my area of expertise) looks like a replica.

The holster is certainly a replica. No doubt.
The compelling supporting fact is that there was only one holster rig, and I know where that item now resides.

It's a nice, hand stitched piece, but not from the show or the movie.
I have never seen a TV or movie prop with the name of the show stamped in :)
Why, I wonder, are there no shots of the buckle on the Propstore page? It's almost like they don't want anyone to see it....

I think Mike may be right, and it's possible the Mare's Leg is from the movie, but their willingness to certify the holster as legit casts doubt on everything. Although they did acquire all the props an costume from the movie ( I was there at the time), they never had anything from the show.

The Mare's Leg may well be a thrashed stunt from the movie. The breakage, general condition, and the damage they admit to supports this.

Late to the party on this one, so I didn't see the listing, but...
