On entering the party, Kaylee and Mal are "announced" before they get to the announcers podium.???

Me too and I'm not convinced the guy at the podium who announces everyone
is the same actor at the podium when Mal and Kaylee come in
(although it is his voice that announces them)

Mal is not even next to her when they are announced.
I guess since it is such a beautiful appearance, they had forgone logic for cinematographic effect.
Either the actor gained some weight or they changed him.

much like River's reveal in the pile of dead Reavers in the BDM Serenity.
