Badger's short film

Postby Badger » Mon Sep 01, 2014 9:35 pm

Now festival season is over, I'd like to go public with a short film I made late last year.

You'll find it here: http://vimeo.com/80916475

Hope you enjoy it :)

Now I see what you meant about Ms. Cassidy being on Downton. It hadn't come out yet here in the States when you mentioned it. And yeah, I've already told you I thought it was brilliant.
May have been on the losin' side, still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Thank you guys, glad you enjoyed it.
It was intended as a 'calling card', to open doors and help with the finance for my feature.

It's certainly seems to have helped...

Riveting!!!

Beautifully lit and shot. Wonderfully paced. Clearly enunciated. Every pause, breath, and twitch exquisitely executed.

Kudos to everyone involved in making this film.

In addition, I gotta say: promotion is a killer in the acquistion business!

Also, is that an *electric* chair behind that desk? Wherever did you manage to get one?

Another question: does this creepy story harken back to an older tradition where the acquistion agent is less benign and more malignant an entity? I can't quite recall where I read it but I remember something about the objects it collects being used to build a castle in another dimension or .... something.

Thanks Taimdala,

I made the chair for the film, in my living room actually.
I like it so much that, after the shoot, I brought it home and it's in the living room. The fairy lights are small medicine bottles. They get turned on on special occasions :)

I made from scrtach or adapted pretty much everything in the film, from the Bakelite intercom to the jar of teeth, the extraction tools, to Denton's claw/horn/fang bracelet.

The story is from an original idea of mine, a kind of 'What if' thing. I wrote it in a day. We shot it in a day and it was edited in a day.

I'll pretty much mirror these observations.

Thanks you guys,

I was asked by the techs at Panavision where I'd got three RED Epic cameras to shoot this.
They were more than a little surprised to find out we shot it on little Sony NEX5N cameras with my Nikon stills lenses.

:)
