Screen-used Dobson cortex access device, tho,
worth it right?

(Another awesome score.)

It was long game.

I had to be really sure that the provenance was right. This isn't the hardest prop in the world to fake, if you're a half decent researcher.

I was finally satisfied. Took a while.

The prop isn't disappointing at all in real life, as you all know. Everyone must have made one of these.
In case anyone wondered, the Cortex graphic was composited in, in post production.

The outside is all scuffed from Dobson chucking it across the cabin.

My Vektor build-up in process.

Metal barrel, dummy chamber, opened up the ejection port, and a bunch of weight in the grip.
I'm modifying the mag base area to look like a magazine and NOT a battery pack!

Thanks for posting the photo! Interesting to see what awaits me in a few weeks. Looks like I'll have enough stuff to do if it rains a lot this summer.

Are you planning to mod the trigger and safety? Going to keep the moving slide?

I was thinking of possibly using Plastidip on the lower grip to remove the "cheap plastic" feel but getting it to properly adhere to smooth surfaces isn't easy.

Go to the auto paint store and ask for bumper/fender primer. It's a universal plastic primer used prior to spraypainting plastic fenders on cars when they paint the bodywork.

If you prime it with this stuff, you can spraypaint a plastic bag!

It will act as a plastic surface primer for almost anything though, paint, putty, dip, whatever.

Test somewhere invisible though, it might eat the thing :o

I used the stuff you're talking about when I sprayed the wheel flares and front spoiler on the Firebird I used to have. I had never used it before and what the paint shop neglected to tell me when we discussed it was that it was only supposed to be MISTED on. I applied it more like a regular primer and it DID eat the fibreglass! Came out the next morning to find that parts of the spoiler had almost disintegrated:shock:

Will probably be able to test it out on some of the internal parts.

Based on the fact that I actually own one, I've gotta' say - that Astra replica is just crazy! I can't imagine the skill involved to do that by hand...

The Vektor also plays a role in the awesome Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Val Kilmer accidentally shoots...something with it, and Robert Downey Jr. tries to ditch the gun in a pond - Kilmer's reaction is priceless.

"...my $7000.00 Vektor that my mother gave me as a special gift?!"
You know what your Hot Animal Machine's looking for right now? THE MONEY TO BUY A "PHILLIPE" MAL...
