If it makes you feel better, my 85-plus percent "not right" collection

is approaching 32,000 views.

Wow- Mike! I've seen some of your stuff before, but never all together in one place.

I can't believe I've been struggling away with making a replacement body for that darn Jayne statue, when you've already fully developed PIPEMAN! (grin)

I also saw you were using M1 Ball (.30 Carbine) ammo in your Mal pistol magazine. I was hunting around for Carbine ammo the other day... M1 Ball (M1 Carbine) and M2 Ball (M1 Garand) seems to be getting harder to find.

(On a unrelated note: I picked up a rubber stunt M1 Carbine prop from HBO's 'The Pacific' the other day.)

Thanks again for the tour of the Firefly collection!

FYI:

There is a Rolodex Electronics Franklin RF-8110 on ebay right now. kinda high on the BIN price, but it'd be worth sending him a message with a more reasonable offer. (and shipping is free)

I just picked up the Franklin on the cheap and I have a lead on the Fellowes. I assume to get the logos off the Franklin, sand with a fine grit sandpaper, prime and paint? Also, I'll be making the decal on clear adhesive. What would be a good way to light it?

Ok, got everything in, but I can't figure out how it goes together. Do I cut out the dock connector out of the Fellowes? This is perplexing...

The Franklin organizer should fit nicely into the left side of the Fellows. The only thing that you need to mod is the Franklin cover.

Here's a picture of my screen used Cortex device :D

Frank... I'm completely envious of that piece and I must admit I hate you a little bit right now!!!

We need a Firefly/Serenity prop collecting reality show, so we can have some stupid challenges for a chance to win awesome stuff like this from you.... I mean.... ummm... other collectors... yeah, thats what I mean!

I was reading the old thread on the RPF about this and found out how to take it apart to make it all fit. I also ran across this:

I'm gonna go this route to light it up. I printed off the screen cap on the clear adhesive paper. I may try to find a local place to make me a static decal if this doesn't work well. I'm using double sided tape to hold the Rolodex in place.

I got Dobson's Cortex Access device a long time ago before all the actual numbers were out there.
It's obviously the wrong model, but at some point, good-enough-is-good-enough in my imperfect world.
The white panel is clear plexi with a protective covering.
It is 1/8" thick to give a little depth to the "image",
which is printed on glossy photo paper.
I had to repaint the internal silver piece;
I couldn't get the product name off without the paint coming with it.
I had a tough time duplicating the satin silver finish.
I forget what type and color paint finally worked.
(I'd go look, but even if its still here, its in with all the wrong silvers.)
I moved the Blue Sun decal to the outside after I repainted the inside silver face.

Because my Rolodex piece is recessed into the Fellows, it closes without any interference issues.

It isn't screen-accurate, but I think it at least looks like a real device from the 'verse.
