Cortex Access Terminal

Postby cklinejr » Mon Mar 01, 2010 8:07 pm

Thought I would start a separate thread on the Cortex Access device. The "Dobson Stuff" thread is kinda all over the place.

Screen Shot Reference:

Here is the info I gathered from old RPF threads:

Rolodex Franklin RF-8110 and Fellowes

This thread is basically useless, but does anyone have the artwork that was posted?

I have to boast a little and say that I identified (at the same time) the Franklin Rolodex. ;)

Anyway, I thought I'd share the one I started a while back...spent a LONG time trying different ways to back light the screen before I came up with one that looks good in a lit room.

Here it is off (parts painted black to eliminate light bleed through the plastic, but there still is some around some of the parts that I need to deal with).

And here it is on. In person the screen looks better and not completely washed out. It's bright enough to make it hard to photograph without it looking all washed out. Photo taken in a well lit room.

This is by no means a screen accurate Cortex device screen, but no one was able to see the eight surrounding icons well enough to copy them.
(This was preBlu-ray.)

Namebrand, that backlit screen looks awesome, What did you end up using to light it?

BB, thanks for posting that, its a good starting point, does anyone know who did that? if we could get the original file and just make a few modifications, that would be easiest/quickest way to get it 100% accurate.

ebay, here is the link for the Fellowes 98041:

There is a FRANKLIN RF-8131 on there right now, but I didn't compare it to the 8110...
