Sheriff's shoulder patches?

Episode 2 - The Train Job

Sheriff's shoulder patches?

Postby Akin » Tue Mar 02, 2010 6:24 pm

I'm sneaking about while "working" (shhh! Don't tell anyone!) and I came across an auction on Ebay for shoulder patch reproductions that look just like the badge... does anyone recall if the Sheriff or Deputies had shoulder patches? For some reason I am thinking they simply wore civilian attire with badges on their shirts, as was oftentimes the custom in the old west...

I might still order a patch or two, just because, but I am curious if they were used in the show...

Thanks!

D'oh! Okay, answers that question...

(are those called something other than "shoulder patches" anywhere? I've always heard them referred to this way...)

Thanks!

I think of them as shoulder patches. I was just clarifying, and Patches 'N Pins makes a sheriff's patch.

The original looks like a silk screen patch with the embroidered edge.

Here's about every commercially available unit/ organization patch from the show.

A few are out of production and I'm waiting on a new Wash BDM patch.

The sheriff's patches were worn on both sleeves in the show,
but my local law enforcement characters will have them on only one shoulder for budgetary reasons.

WOW

Some agencies choose to have their patch on one shoulder and the US Flag on the other, some have their patch on just one side, and some, like the LAPD, have no patches at all except for specialized units. Here at LAGSDPD, we have a patch on each shoulder. That's by far the most common, at least here in SoCal...

For the Sheriff's patch, I have the Patch and Pin one, but I found this one that is different and is my avatar.

If anyone's interested, last night I discovered the the sheriff's jacket is a Lined Eisenhower Jacket made by Dickies.
http://www.dickies.com/product/product_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3A%3Afolder_id=2534374302024402&PRODUCT%3A%3Aprd_parent_id=2534374302024397&PRODUCT%3A%3Aprd_id=845524441762634&ADD_CART_ITEM%3A%3AATR_Sku_Size=_

I freeze-frame confirmed the slash front pockets and left arm pen pocket as well.
