Episode 2 - The Train Job

Filming Locations

Postby pennausamike » Sat Dec 18, 2010 9:16 am

The filming location booklet I bought had no info on the town of Paradiso.

In "Still Flying", the locations article mentions the Tropico Gold mine outside of Rosamond.

I tried just looking at the Google satellite images, but I didn't really know what I was looking for.

I found this picture:

and then searched abandoned mine forums and sites until I found this set of directions:

By knowing where to look and what I was looking for, I got this image:

I'm not quite sure where the mag-lev rails are, tho' :-)

In the episode screen cap image with the Paradiso sign, there is a two story building on the left of the street.

I believe we see that same building near to center of this image, along the street.

To the left of the two story, is a one story with a blue/white van in front of it, and some white doors behind the van.
I'd say that the square rusted iron structure we're seeing in front of those white doors is a maglev train disembarkation point. :)

You can see the square rusted 'steps' in both of the overhead shots you posted, PLUS Lee Stringers trainjob photos mention that the steps were preexisting.

Bull's eye, dude! You found it. :)

Oh wow, that Joey Blogg's Mining Co. T-shirt is so cool!
I might just have to latch on to one of those.

Neat find,

Bozhe moi! Holy crap! This is totally amazing.

1. Great detective work on finding the site, Mike! Ever think about pursuing a CIA career in SIGINT?
2. The links to Lee Stringer's photosteam made me cry. But in a good way. ^_^

You guys are amazing, the lengths you go in your appreciation and enjoyment of the Verse. It feels like coming home.

Thank you for that. :D
