Congrat on another piece of the Verse. How long will the stuff last? Don't forget to toast the Alliance in the Alliance friendly Bar, unless you want a brawl. :D

Somebody needs to put you down, dog!

Here are a few more pics...

This is the a shot of the crown on the lid.

A slightly better pic of the front label. Who knew cleaning off the lens would make such a difference?

Image
The back label. The first symbol on the top is Chinese for Jade, which I find interesting. When I get my upgraded iPhone here soon, I have an app that might help to translate some of this stuff. I need a slightly better resolution on the camera than my first gen offers though.

This says Wu Jia Pi Jiu, or Wu Jia Pi Wine. The bottom symbol means alcohol.

And to all you purplebelly sympathisers who celebrate U-Day, I offer my most cordial invitation to go gun hoe-tze bee dio-se. ;)
May have been on the losin' side, still not convinced it was the wrong one.

So, I've been thinking about this...

From what I've been reading, we've all assumed it's a water bottle and focused our efforts accordingly. Problem is, since '02 or so when filming was going on, water bottles have changed drastically. Where they used to be sort of generic, lots of the big names have since switched to custom made bottles that are much thinner plastic, since they don't have to hold in carbonation forces and since they're cheaper to make and presumably for the environmental angle.

None of that, however, means that the original bottle is no longer in production. If it was a generic bottle that was ordered in bulk from a bottle manufacturer, then they may still be made but sold to other companies for other products.

What started me on this line of thought was shopping at my local Asian grocery store. I was looking for some mirin to make tsu-yu sauce for soba noodles. I saw several bottles, made of thick plastic that were similar to the "glass" Mal was using. None were exact, but it sort of gave me hope that it might still be possible to find one. After I used the mirin, I cut the bottle down at what looked to be the best point and would up with this:

This particular bottle was a Kikkoman Aji-Mirin bottle in the 500ml range I believe. But if any of you guys live near a largish Asian market, you never know, you just might find the right bottle.

And here it is next to a bottle for scale:

Good find. At least I have a good staring place in my search.
